Over time, these roads were adapted and improved, becoming important commercial and military arteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the Middle Ages<\/strong>, the Royal Road of Aragon acquired great strategic importance, since <strong>connected the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon<\/strong>Merchants, pilgrims, armies and, sometimes, even kings, traveled along this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127-1024x538.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127-768x403.jpg 768w, https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127-18x9.jpg 18w, https:\/\/paramerasibericas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/6x9_BW_130-896009127.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Book &quot;Illustrious travelers on the royal road of Aragon&quot; by Antonio Bueno<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Royal Road of Aragon: from Alcolea del Pinar to Used<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Royal Road of Aragon, one of the main communication routes between Castile and Aragon, had a well-defined route between <strong>Alcolea del Pinar and Used.<\/strong> This route, which was usually covered in three stages, was characterized by its layout through varied landscapes and its historical importance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stages of the tour:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Alcolea del Pinar \u2013 Maranch\u00f3n:<\/strong> The first stage, approximately 24 kilometres long, crossed a predominantly flat and arid landscape.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maranch\u00f3n \u2013 Tortuera:<\/strong> This stage, about 29 kilometres long, was slightly longer and ascended towards the moor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tortuera \u2013 Used:<\/strong> The last stage, again 24 kilometres long, connected Castile with Aragon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maranch\u00f3n, a key point on the road<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maranch\u00f3n, located in the heart of the province of Guadalajara, was a key point on the Camino Real de Arag\u00f3n. Its strategic location, in an elevated area with easy access to different routes, made it an obligatory stopover for travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Numerous historical documents attest to the importance of <strong>Maranch\u00f3n as a stopping point along the way.<\/strong> <strong>Kings such as Philip II and Cosimo de M\u00e9dicis stayed in the villa<\/strong> during their trips to Aragon. The section from Maranch\u00f3n to Embid, on the border with Aragon, is especially interesting, as it allows us to immerse ourselves in the history and nature of this region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Walking the Camino Real de Arag\u00f3n is like taking a trip back in time. Walking along these ancient paths, we can imagine the travellers who came before us, the difficulties they had to overcome and the stories they lived.
